Business Needs
ADAMS ESQ is a local law office that pursues
cases related to special education throughout the
state of California. There are lawyers and
researchers throughout the state, which requires a
network that can be easily accessible from remote
locations. The proprietary software that tracks
their billable hours and client research was no
longer supported, so they needed to upgrade to keep
their operation running. ADAMS ESQ needed a company
that could take a project from start to finish: to
work with the software manufacturer to successfully
migrate the data to a newer version, to upgrade an
existing server to a SQL database for compatibility
with the software program, to provide a viable
remote access solution to the database, and to
remotely monitor the server after the project. Since
the program and network were critical to a
functional business, it was important that the
project was done swiftly and with as little impact
as possible.
Solution
ADAMS ESQ called PC Professional to lead the
server and software migration. We led the hardware
upgrade with Windows Small Business Server 2008
because it is a cost effective way to have an SQL
database which was crucial to the software program.
ADAMS ESQ has a unique business structure as its end
users rely heavily on the Terminal Server for access
to the company’s database. It was imperative that
their solution include an easily accessible and
secure way to access the network from remote
locations. With Microsoft Terminal Server integrated
with SBS 2008, lawyers throughout the state can
reliably access their research. With uptime on their
server housing the database being so critical to
their business, PC Professional enrolled the firm in
our Managed IT service. The 24 x 7 monitoring
service allows PC Professional to be proactive in
mitigating detrimental downtime. ADAMS ESQ can also
call in for help desk support, which means that PC
Professional provides IT advice and solutions to end
users. Through Remote Monitoring and Help Desk
Access, PC Professional provides a proactive
solution to common network malfunctions and a
prearranged response to blips in computer service.
