Professional to Develop Customized Disaster Recovery
Plan
Business Needs
A local government agency came to PC Professional
when it needed to upgrade its servers and create a
Disaster Recovery plan. They wanted to be able to
guarantee to their end users that their network
could respond to a disaster efficiently and quickly.
With no current plan for data backup or strategy in
the event of a disaster, the agency trusted their
Account Managers to develop a viable plan of attack.
Solution
Through collaboration between Technical Engineers
and the local government’s dedicated account
manager, PC Professional devised a plan to implement
server migration and disaster recovery planning to
satisfy the agency’s needs in the event of a
disaster. With a thorough assessment of the network
makeup and recognition of the customer’s needs, PC
Professional recommended a three phrase project.
First, two of the government agency’s server needed
to be migrated to the latest technology in
preparation of a DR strategy. Second, PC
Professional technical engineers needed to migrate
to a new server. Third, PC Professional implemented
a remote site DR server that would immediately work
during a disaster. Through this three pronged
approach, PC Professional was able to satisfy the
government department’s needs thoroughly and in an
easily understandable way to the client. With a
customized Disaster Recovery and Server Migration
Plan, the agency knew that their servers would work
in their existing IT environment and that their end
users wouldn’t be excessively impacted.
