An International Engineering Firm Migrates Email to the Cloud
Business Needs
Our client is a professional mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering consulting firm with a local office right here in Oakland. With the need for a server upgrade, they weighed all of their options when considering next steps. Like many companies, the ultimate decision was determined around cost. The customer understood that the cost of an entirely new server along with licensing software for their existing mail solution was not within their budget. Because the client was facing the challenge of high costs associated with their IT project, they the PC Professional consulting team for guidance. After a complete analysis of the client’s needs, our team proposed a migration of their current email solution to the cloud.
Solution
PC Professional’s tech team took the lead in a full migration from the client’s existing mailboxes on their server in-house to Microsoft Exchange Online. Our first step to any migration, after initial analysis, is providing the client with a customized design that fits their needs. Once the design process has been completed, testing begins prior to any onsite implementation. All testing occurs in our Proof-of-Concept Lab located right here in our office. We always verify all projects have reached a final approval from our tech team to ensure a smooth implementation and anticipation of any challenges onsite.
Benefits
After testing our design in the lab, our tech team migrated the solution seamlessly on site. Fifty Exchange Online user mailboxes were migrated over to the cloud. Because of the amount of mailboxes, our consulting team alleviated the cost issue as well as improved functionality. Microsoft’s Exchange Online has multiple user benefits such as: improved email security, access to email anywhere as well as 25 GB of storage on a standard license. PC Professional’s tech team acted as a secondary IT department to the client, allowing them to worry about their daily tasks, while we worried about their specialized IT project.
When to Consider Migrating to the Cloud…
- When you have an end-of-life server and are in need of a server upgrade, but are deterred by the costs.
- Do not have the in-house expertise for cloud solutions, design and implementation.
