Bay Area Community Involvement
Oakland
Public Library
PC Professional has annually participated in the
Oakland Public Library Teen Summer Passport Program
where we donate a laptop computer for the grand
prize. This program aims to get teenagers in Oakland
to explore the Bay Area and read/write short reviews
about the areas they discovered.
The Oakland Public Libary is part of the City of
Oakland, and has been in existence since 1878. They
have 15 branch locations, a Main Library, a Second
Start Adult Literacy Program, the Bookmobile, the
Tool Lending Library and the new African-American
Museum and Library. They offer a variety of special
services for the residents of Oakland the the state
of California.
Clausen House
Clausen House began in 1967 as a single group
home for adults with developmental disabilities.
Since then, Clausen House has expanded their
services to include three residential homes, an
apartment complex, a community center, an employment
department and a recreation department. Each of
these programs serves adults with developmental
disabilities who seek assistance as they become more
independent members of the community. They are a
non-profit corporation with a wide range of services
including an Adult Education Program, Supported
Employment, Independent and Supported Living
Services, Residential Services and Recreation. PC
Professional has been able to help Clausen House
maintain up to date computer technology by
installing their whole Microsoft Network. PC
Professional has also provided all computer desktop
maintenance, break/fix, and computer technical
support and information technology planning at their
locations. With PC Professional's help Clausen House
can keep focused on their day to day tasks without
worrying about their network.
The
Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway Program
PC Professional currently participates in The
State of California Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway program
to help maintain a section of the roadside within
California's State Highway System. Our two mile
stretch of roadside is along Highway 24 in the east
bound direction on the Oakland side of the Caldecott
Tunnel. We are in charge of removing the litter once
a month from this section. PC Professional's
involvement in this program allows us to help keep
California looking beautiful.
