Local Baking Company Needed a New Exchange
Server with Remote Access

A Bay Area based baking company was running out
of space on their current Exchange Server, and they
saw this as an opportunity to upgrade their IT
infrastructure. It was important for the baking
company that there were little interruptions to
their office workers and production line. The baking
company’s network had issues with stability and
reliability on the platform they were currently
running on: Windows 2000 Server with Exchange 2003
and a Citrix Remote Access system. Their requirement
of a stable IT environment for their office users
and production team made it crucial to fix this
instability and create a network that was secure
while still continuously accessible. It was crucial

remotely.
Solution
PC Professional recognizes the unique needs of
the Alameda baking company and presented a solution
based on our assessment of their IT environment. In
order to create a more reliable network, their ADS
environment was upgraded to Windows Server 2008 to
provide an easy link with their upgraded Microsoft
Exchange 2007 server. PC Professional recommended
upgrading their Exchange Server technology since
they needed to migrate to a new mail server with
more space. The usage of Windows Server 2008 and
Microsoft Exchange 2007 allowed for better internal
control over their network and allowed for increased
functionality with their mail server – including
shared calendaring and conference room scheduling.
The local baking company had also expressed their
interest in better remote access to their network.
PC Professional recommended and implemented Windows
Terminal Server, which provides a secure access
point for the network and allowed for the retirement
of their Citrix server. PC Professional created a
secure entry point with this product as there can be
customized security and permissions for users.
Upgrading to the most recent Microsoft Server
technology gave the baking company a secure and
compatible IT environment.
